British Library Labs Award

[2015] An interdisciplinary team including Dr Beatrice Alex, Dr Claire Grover and Professor Jon Oberlander has received an award in the research category of the British Library Labs Award 2015.

Their project, ‘Palimpsest: Telling Edinburgh’s Stories with Maps’ is an AHRC funded collaboration between the University of Edinburgh’s School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures and School of Informatics, EDINA, the University-owned geospatial data service and the University of St Andrews’ SACHI lab.

Palimpsest

Palimpsest enables the interactive exploration of Edinburgh’s rich literary history via the LitLong web interface and mobile app.

The LitLong tools link to more than 1,600 locations within Edinburgh mentioned in over 47,000 literary excerpts from around 550 books.
