Biometric Residence Permits (BRP)

In 2015, the Home Office introduced a new system for issuing Tier 4 student visas called the Biometric Residence Permit.

What are BRP cards?

A Biometric Residence Permit (BRP) is a secure identity card which contains personal details and biometric information for those who have permission (a visa) to come to the UK for more than 6 months.

When your visa is granted you will be issued with a vignette (sticker in your passport) which is valid for 30 days. The vignette will start 30 days before the course start date on your CAS or seven days before the date that you specified on your application as your intended date of travel to the UK, whichever is later.

If you are unable to travel within this 30 day period, you will need to apply for a new vignette.

Collecting your BRP

You will be required to collect your BRP within 10 days of your arrival to the UK. The BRP will confirm the full length of your visa.
