University sponsored panel on Iranian Cinema

With the Filmmakers: Continuities and Discontinuities in Iranian Cinema was a chance to hear Iranian filmmakers discuss their work.

As part of the 2014 Edinburgh International Film Festival’s focus on Iranian Cinema, the School of Literatures, Languages and Cultures was involved in this special two-day panel event.

Dr Nacim Pak-Shiraz, University of Edinburgh lecturer in Persian and Film Studies, was joined by Hamid Naficy of Northwestern University and EIFF Artistic Director Chris Fujiwara to lead discussions with Iranian filmmakers about the development of cinema in the country.

Two short films - Only Image Remains and The Crown Jewels of Iran - were also screened as part of the event.

Continuities and Discontinuities in Iranian Cinema was at Filmhouse 23 - 24 June at 3:30pm.
