Our MSc in Learning for Sustainability prepares dynamic and creative educators, who can inspire their students to take up the challenges of the 21st Century with intelligence and passion.

Learning for Sustainability is about developing forward-thinking, action-oriented lifelong learners who see our current social and ecological challenges as opportunities for creative and thoughtful engagement.

By attracting a diverse and talented international student body, our innovative programme fosters an inquiry-centred interdisciplinary learning community aimed at exploring the roles pedagogy can play in forming an inspiring and liveable 21st century. Through examining and critically considering the potential of experiential and outdoor learning, environmental education, philosophy, and citizenship education for Learning for Sustainability, you will gain a broad set of skills by which to inspire others to collaborate and take action for a brighter and more promising future.

The programme is taught at weekends and there are three courses available online – Sources of Knowledge, Planning Research and Introduction to Learning for Sustainability. This atypical structure enables those who are working full-time to undertake postgraduate study.

The programme has a close relationship with Learning for Sustainability Scotland, which is Scotland’s UN University Regional Centre of Expertise on Education for Sustainable Development and is located on campus.
