Chaplaincy

Wellbeing and Mindfulness

Events and information to improve your wellbeing (mental, physical and spiritual health), including Mindfulness meditation.

The Chaplaincy offers a wide variety of wellbeing activities, which are all supported by studies indicating that they are likely to improve mental health.

Our main activity in this area is Mindfulness, led by our Mindfulness Chaplain, Dr Avinash Bansode, and our Associate Chaplain, Rev Alison Newell.  We also offer Tai Chi and Yoga classes.

Mindfulness sessions in 2016/17 will be advertised here soon.

"I have just completed the mindfulness course run by Dr. Avinash Bansode and Ali Newell. I would like to say how much I have appreciated the opportunity to attend these classes at the chaplaincy. I have been meaning to try meditation for a few years now, but have always been a bit nervous about starting as I am not a very spiritual person. The financial support from the university has enabled me to take a chance on these classes safe in the knowledge that I would probably be surrounded by like minded people. I now feel more able to focus and am less easily stressed by my work and home life and am looking forward to continuing my mindfulness training further."
