Anglican, Episcopalian

Canon Ian Paton is the University's Anglican (Episcopalian) Chaplain, and also runs Old St Paul's Church, just off the Royal Mile.

Baha'i

Irene Cotugno is the University's Baha'i Belief Contact, and also works in the Human Resources department.

Buddhist

Ani Rinchen Khandro is the University's Honorary Buddhist Chaplain and the Teacher and Director of the Kagyu Samye Dzong Tibetan Buddhist Meditation Centre.

Christian (East Asian)

Sangduck’s role with the Chaplaincy is primarily working with Korean and Chinese Christian students at the University of Edinburgh.

Church of Scotland

Rev Dr Richard Frazer and Rev Dr Jared Hay are the Church of Scotland Chaplains to the University. Richard is the minister of Greyfriars Kirk (near the central campus), and Jared is the minister of Priestfield Parish Church (next to Pollock Halls).

Daoist

Rachael Zi Jiao is the University's Daoist Belief Contact, and runs the Soen Ren School of Spiritual Arts, teaching Daoism (also spelt Taoism) in Edinburgh and East Lothian.

Free Church of Scotland

There is not currently a Free Church of Scotland chaplain, but the Chaplains will put you in touch with a minister if required.

Hindu

There is not currently a Hindu chaplain, but the Chaplains will put you in touch with a minister if required.

Humanist

Tim Maguire is the University's Humanist Honorary Chaplain. He is a Humanist celebrant, and carries out many weddings and other ceremonies every year.

Jewish Chaplain

The University has two Jewish Chaplains; Rabbi Yossi Bodenheim, and Rabbi Mark Solomon (Liberal).

Labyrinth Chaplain

Rev Canon Frances Burberry is the Labyrinth Chaplain, overseeing the Labyrinth in George Square Gardens and also the canvas labyrinths used for smaller events. She is a trained Labyrinth facilitator through Veriditas.

Methodist

There is not currently a Methodist chaplain, but the Chaplains will put you in touch with a minister if required.

Mindfulness Chaplain

Dr Avinash Bansode is our Mindfulness chaplain, appointed in 2015. A qualified GP and mindfulness practitioner, he leads regular classes at the Chaplaincy.

Muslim

Sohaib Saeed (Muslim Chaplain) is a Scottish-born imam associated with the Al-Furqan Mosque in Glasgow and various university campuses.

Orthodox Christian

Fr Raphael Pavouris is our Honorary Orthodox Chaplain. He is originally from Greece, and is the priest at the Orthodox Church in Meadow Lane ( http://www.edinburgh-orthodox.org.uk/ ).

Pagan

Jean Fowler is the Pagan Belief Contact

Quaker

Pascoe Harvey is the University's Quaker Belief Contact.

Roman Catholic

The Roman Catholic Chaplaincy is located at 23-24 George Square (you are welcome to visit!), and their website is at http://scotland.op.org/edinburgh/. The resident Roman Catholic Chaplains are also Honorary Chaplains to the University.

Unitarians in Edinburgh

There is not currently a Unitarian chaplain, but the Chaplains will put you in touch with a minister if required.

United Reformed Church

Rev Fiona Bennett is the United Reformed Church Honorary Chaplain, and is also minister at Augustine United Reformed Church on George IV Bridge.

Volunteer Lay Chaplain

Mike Sinclair is a volunteer Lay Chaplain at the University.
