Professor Pollard spoke at innumerable seminars in countries throughout the world including many named and student invited lectures.

Recent Key Talks

In October 2016 Jeff Pollard gave the Keynote talk at the 2nd Symposium on "Cellular Crosstalk in the Tumor Microenvironment" at the Georg-Speyer-Haus Institute for Tumor Biology and Experimental Therapy in Frankfurt, Germany and the Keynote at the "Tumour Infiltrating Myeloid Cell Compartment” Symposium at Leiden University in The Netherlands. He also hosted our Annual Symposium ‘Metchnikoff’s Legacy – 100 years of macrophages’ Held in the QMRI lecture theatre with speakers from Europe and the USA.

In November 2015 Professor Pollard gave a talk at the Princess Takamatsu 46th International Symposium in Tokyo, Japan where he was introduced to his Imperial Highness Prince Hitashi. The same month is also organised and co-chaired the AACR Special Conference on Tumor Metastasis in Austin, Texas, US.

In October 2015, Professor Pollard gave a lecture at the 30th Annual Harvard Course, Critical Issues in Tumor Microenvironment: Angiogenesis, Metastasis and Immunology in Cambridge, Massachusetts, US.

In June 2015, Professor Pollard delivered a plenary talk at the Cell Symposia: Cancer, Inflammation and Immunity in Sitges, Spain.

In March 2015, Professor Pollard gave an opening Keynote talk at the Keystone Symposia, Dendritic Cells and Macrophages Reunited in Montreal, Canada, he also delivered lectures at the CRUK Cambridge Institute, University of Cambridge and The Swiss Federal Institute of Technology, Ecole Polytechnique Fédérale de Lausanne in Switzerland.

In February 2015, Professor Pollard delivered a plenary talk entitled: “Tumor Associated Macrophages: From Mechanism to Therapy” at the IPSEN Symposium Tumor Heterogeneity and Tumor Microenvironment in Mysore, India and in March 2015 he spoke at the Keystone Symposia, Dendritic Cells and Macrophages Reunited in Montreal, Canada.

In October 2014, Professor Pollard delivered a talk entitled “Diverse Populations of Macrophages promote Metastasis” at the NHRI/IBMS Joint International Conference on Inflammation and Disease in Taiwan. The same month he gave a plenary lecture at the Cell Therapy in Regenerative Medicine and Cancer Immunotherapy Symposium in Seoul, South Korea.

In June 2014, Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk entitled “The Metastatic Cascade – Macrophages lead the way” at the 15th International Biennial Congress of the Metastasis Research Society in Heidelberg, Germany.

In May 2014, Professor Pollard delivered a keynote speech entitled “Chemokine Networks in Macrophage Promotion of Metastasis” at the 24th Nikolas Symposium in Athens, Greece.

In March 2014, Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk at the Nobel Forum Symposium, Frontiers in Cancer Research and Therapy at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm, Sweden. The same month he also gave a plenary talk at the Joint Keystone Symposium on Inflammation, Infection and Cancer/Immune Evolution in Cancer in British Columbia, Canada.

In January 2014 Professor Pollard delivered a keynote speech entitled ‘Macrophage promotion of tumour progression & metastasis’ at the ISREC Symposium on Metastatic Colonization in Crans-Montana, Switzerland.

Professor Pollard in October delivered the Queen Mary’s/Bart’ Cancer Institute Distinguished Guest lecture “Macrophage Diversity Promotes Tumour Progression & Metastasis” that was accompanied by an interview.

Professor Pollard was the plenary lecturer at the Warsaw Medical University official inauguration of the academic year 2013 -2014.

Professor Pollard gave a plenary talk at the meeting in October 2013 to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of the birth of Albert Calmette at the Pasteur Institute in Lille, France where he had been Director.  Calmette with Guerin developed the BCG vaccine first used in 1921 and it is still the only one to have efficacy against TB particularly in children.  The Lille Pasteur is one of the two such institutes in France and Prof. Pollard also talked at the 120th Anniversary of the Pasteur in Paris and the 100th anniversary of Metchnikoff’s Nobel Prize in 2008.  These two institutions attest to the history for French immunology and also to its ongoing excellence.

Professor Pollard’s recent review entitled ” Macrophages in Development, Homeostasis and Disease. Nature 496(7446): 445-55” in the journal “Nature” was featured on the front cover with the caption “ A cell for all seasons”.

Professor’s Pollard’s recent publication with his colleagues Drs. Elaine Lin and Andrew Nguyen “Stat3 in Epithelial Cells Regulates Inflammation and Tumor Progression to Malignant State in Colon.  Neoplasia 15(9): 998-1008” was featured on the Front cover of the journal “Neoplasia”.
