Writing a job specification

Managers are required to complete a job specification to allow the Careers Service to gain the necessary approvals and advertise the positions to students in February. Examples of previous internships and job specifications can be provided.

Programme support

The Internships Team at the Careers Service give guidance and support in all matters related to the programme, bringing interns together before, during and after the internship. This is combined with a framework to support the development of participants' employability and self-reflection throughout, and the opportunity to gain an Edinburgh Award as part of their internship.

The following events run by the Careers Service are compulsory for the interns and we request you give your intern time off to attend (more information about the events will be given at the Information Event for host managers on the 28th April).

1st June (unpaid) Induction Event

Previous manager testimonials

We had two interns in our department. They were both really enthusiastic and delivered results above our expectations. The process is so valuable for the interns, you really see them grow and develop during their time with you, but the benefit is mutual as the work they produced is high quality and has really helped our team.
