Researchers from the Cancer Research UK Edinburgh Centre/Institute of Genetics and Molecular Medicine (IGMM) took part in the Edinburgh International Science Festival this April. Participation in the festival has become an annual event for the IGMM and is an important part of our mission to engage the public with our research. This year our team designed and delivered a hands-on activity for families at the National Museum of Scotland. The activity “Connecting Codes to Cures” explored the use of genetic studies in developing cancer treatments and visitors took on the role of a scientist and learned the principles of personalized medicine.
