Accessible learning

The School supports the University’s aim to create an environment of equality that enables anyone to participate fully in the mainstream of university life.

The design and running of courses in biology is aimed to allow students with disabilities or specific learning difficulties to have the necessary support and provision to take part in as full a manner as possible. As part of this procedure, the Disability Office compiles a learning profile and makes a needs assessment for each student. The profile is transmitted to Course Organisers via the BTO so that makes reasonable adjustments for the student, are implemented.

Enhancement of the learning process

In line with our strategic goals of excellence in learning and teaching, we seek to enhance the student experience by creating an environment and culture that is dynamic, accessible and inclusive. We actively encourage student engagement in learning and in University processes, support person-centred learning, and promote positive attitudes and high expectations in our students. Through developing graduate skills we aim to help students maximise their academic potential and enjoy their learning experience within the University, ultimately enriching their capacity for life-long learning and employability in the 21st century.
