Grant award to boost creative industries

Researchers have secured funding to develop an online resource to help creative organisations develop their business.

The Arts Humanities and Research Council (AHRC) award will support the creation of a website to help companies in the creative and cultural sector develop their audiences, participation and programmes.

Charlotte Gilmore in the Business School will be Principal Investigator on the project, working with Celia Duffy from the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland.

Developing the creative economy

The project follows on from research funded by the AHRC Cultural Value Project looking at ways to develop the creative economy in the UK.

The research identified a need for small and medium sized creative and cultural organisations to have resources enabling them to conduct research.

Researchers will work in partnership Creative Scotland with input from other creative industries in Scotland – including Edinburgh Sculpture Workshop, Creative Edinburgh, Creative Edinburgh, The Biscuit Factory, Magnetic North and Fleet Collective.

The project will begin in February 2017 leading to the launch of the online toolkit at Creative Scotland in 2018.
