Alumni relations
The University prides itself in maintaining links with its graduates through an active Alumni Relations programme.
Development & Alumni is responsible for central alumni activities working in conjunction with several schools that have their own dedicated alumni contacts. Good alumni relations should lead to a mutually beneficial, lifelong relationship between the alumnus and the University.
The importance of maintaining good relationships with our alumni is paramount as alumni are:
- Our best ambassadors
- Advocates for the organisation e.g. can assist with student recruitment or provide advice
- Potential employers
- Donors
Definition of Alumni
People automatically become alumni providing they have completed at least one year at the University or one semester for exchange students. Therefore Alumni include:
- Graduates
- Non-Graduating Alumni e.g. Junior Year Abroad/Erasmus Exchange Students
- Honorary Degree recipients
Alumni Benefits & Services
Alumni are entitled to certain key benefits and services including:
- Alumni Magazine ‘Edit’ every January and May
- Bi-monthly E-newsletter
- Free Alumni Benefits Card - offering discounts at the University and externally
- MyEd Alumni Portal and online communities on Facebook and LinkedIn
- Networks and Groups around the world
- Reunion help
- Invitations to Alumni events and networking opportunities in the UK and abroad
- Linking to fellow alumni for career and social support
