The Centre for Research Collections (CRC) is the main space for anyone using the University of Edinburgh’s historic collections.
The CRC brings together Special Collections (including University Archives), the Lothian Health Services Archive and Museums Support under one banner.
The Centre offers a principal single point of access to these collections and the staff who manage them.

Monday - Wednesday 9 am - 7 pm, Thursday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm.
The last evening when were are open until 7 pm is Tuesday 17 December. On Wednesday 18 December - Friday 20 December we are open 9 am - 5 pm. We are open on Monday 23 December 9 am - 5 pm, then closed for the Christmas vacation. We reopen on Friday 3 January 9 am - 5 pm. In the week of 6-10 January we are open Monday - Friday 9 am - 5 pm. Normal term time opening hours restart on Monday 13 January.
The CRC offers a reading room and enquiries service for anyone researching our collections.
To use the reading rooms, you must register as a reader.
First register with the Library
Do this via the Main Library Helpdesk on the ground floor. Staff and students of the University of Edinburgh will already be registered (please bring your staff/student card with you).
Then register with the CRC
