As well as identifying research links, collaborations have also been established that support teaching and cultural exchange.
Our collaborations are in subject areas as diverse as divinity, life sciences, medicine, arts, agriculture, engineering and computer sciences.
The University of Edinburgh has relationships with more than 50 top Chinese universities.
These include the following institutions:
The China Office helps maintain these relationships and assists with local arrangements to facilitate research symposiums; recently these have included those held with the Chinese People’s Association of Friendship with Foreign Countries and the National Natural Science Foundation of China.
Other activities organized by our staff in Beijing have included the University of Edinburgh Beijing Graduation Ceremony, various high- level Edinburgh alumni events and the reception to celebrate the Beijing Olympic Games.
Working closely with Chinese governmental organizations like the China Scholarship Council, the Ministry of Health, Hanban/Confucius Institute Headquarters (which is affiliated with the Ministry of Education) and the China Academy of Sciences is a key role of the office.
The China Office is managed by Dr Nini Yang and is located in Beijing.
